The ContinueUP project launches its MOOC for Teachers!
Teachers are more than ready to improve their teaching with digital skills. In a world where digital skills are no longer a luxury, they’re a necessity! But how can educators stay ahead in the ever-changing landscape of education? The ContinueUP MOOC offers a unique opportunity for teachers across Europe to build the digital competencies they need to succeed in today and future’s classrooms.
This course, “Empowering Teachers as Digital Lifelong Learners in School,” is part of the ContinueUP project, a collaborative initiative designed to bridge the gap between initial teacher education (ITE) and continuous professional development (CPD). Co-created by CPD providers from Croatia, Spain, and Portugal, with input from teacher training institutions, it delivers a dynamic and cross-cultural learning experience for teachers keen to improve their digital skills.
At the heart of the course is the European Digital Competence Framework for Educators (DigCompEdu), a comprehensive tool developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. This framework focuses on six core areas: Professional Engagement, Digital Pedagogy, Digital Resources, Teaching and Learning, Assessment, and Empowering Learners.
The ContinueUP MOOC aligns with the European Digital Competence Framework for Educators, specifically focusing on Area 1: Professional Engagement. The course offers modules on improving digital presence, ensuring safe digital practices, using technology for professional collaboration, and engaging in reflective practices. Teachers will gain practical knowledge to apply digital tools in their schools, enhance their professional growth, and contribute positively to the digital world.
Also, the course aligns with the Digital Education Action Plan from the European Commission, which advocates for the development of digital skills to help educators meet the changing needs of their students. While the course is open to all educators, it is particularly well-suited for in-service teachers at a B1 proficiency level, according to the SELFIEforTEACHERS toolkit.
By completing this MOOC, educators will gain the expertise and confidence to lead continuous professional development and digital engagement in their schools. It’s an invitation for teachers to reflect on their practices, connect with peers, and apply digital tools in ways that truly make a difference.
